Inspired by Hip Hop, Jazz, Haiku, and Indigenous Histories and Futurisms….

Ben Yisrael is a poet, filmmaker, and multimedia artist that uses acrylic, crayon, and pastels to create colorful images on canvas and paper. The subjects of his art include the Afro-Indigenous golden era, and futurist images as well as indigenous spiritual symbolism. As art is not only a medium for documenting the past, but an element of revolution..the aim and purpose of his art is to reshape how afro indigenous images are portrayed, distributed, and accepted. Each image is designed to reimage what is holy and heroic in the post-colonial era heading into the Indigenous New Age.

Santos Patronos is a 2023 Exhibition curated by U.S.-based Artist Ben Yisrael and union. This showcase is a group exhibition inviting Mexican and United States artists to share Paintings and Mixed Media visual art of the places, concepts, and people they hold holy and sacred. In the context of this exhibition, the sacred is not in reference to religious, celestial, or divine entities but rather that which inspires the day-to-day poetry of life. This exhibition is about the simple treasures that shape our world, bring us joy, and inspire us to change ourselves and respect the light in others…

The purpose of this exhibition is not to express definitive answers but rather to explore the secular sacraments that we participate in that bring us meaning, awe, and pleasure…
